The Belly Of The Beast anthologies feature writers from all different walks of life and cultures and both established and amateur writers. Each contributor publishes under their own name or chooses to publish under a preferred pen name. From Europe to the Americas, our contributors come together and add their unique perspective to the theme at hand. INVITATION

It’s finally time, the third installment of The Belly of The Beast anthology series. This is the first post-COVID edition and while I honestly struggled with the theme/prompt for this one. I feel it’s important (and time) to talk about what we’ve all been living and going through. For me, these years have been a stream of horrific world events, personal losses, and intense circumstances that I’ve normalized and pushed through because, well, life goes on. Juxtaposed with the difficulties have been love, beauty, resistance, and the inevitable growth that accompanies struggles.

I’m inviting us to talk about it, write about it, and create from it. What battles, big or small, have you been fighting? What has been war-ing in your particular corner of this universe? In this third volume, War In The Belly of The Beast, we will come together to commiserate, express, and honor this theme. The Belly Of The Beast series has really, in part, always been about having a “safe” place to publish. Here we get to air out things, observe, cry, laugh, or at least point light in those parts that usually we keep hidden or private. We get raw and we get real.

War In The Belly Of The Beast will accept poetry, fiction, essays, explorations, and artwork in English, Spanish, or French. This is a passion-project, any and all proceeds that this publication makes are used to cover costs and the continuation of this project. As with the last editions, this will be published under a creative commons license, so the original rights to your work remain yours.

Publishing Agreement

By signing and Submitting I agree to La Bruja LLC Publishing Terms, Conditions, and Agreement as detailed below.

This agreement is made between you, hereinafter referred to as the Author, and La Bruja LLC, hereinafter referred to as the Publisher. The parties agree as follows:

Author’s Grant.

1(a). The Author grants permission to include his/her/their story/essay/poem/art, hereinafter referred to as the Work, in an anthology titled (War In The Belly of The Beast), hereafter referred to as the Anthology, to be published in print and eBook (PDF and ePub) formats.

1(b). The Author grants the Publisher the right to use the Author’s chosen publication name for advertising, promoting, or otherwise publicizing the Work and the Anthology. The Author may be asked to provide an image or likeness as well; the right to deny this request is retained by the Author. The Publisher shall only use personal information expressly provided and approved by the Author. If the Author is publishing under a fictitious name or any name other than his/her/their legal name, the Publisher agrees to keep Author’s legal name and personal info strictly confidential.

Payments.

2(a). Author will receive one complimentary copy of the Anthology from the Publisher upon publication and upon request. This recompense represents the Author’s full payment. In further consideration, Author may purchase additional copies of the Publication at a 50% discount.

2(b). The Author shall receive a complimentary copy of the eBook editions of the Anthology.

Authors’ Warranties and Indemnities.

3(a). The Author represents and warrants that he/she/they is the sole Author of the Work, and that no one has previously reserved the rights granted in this agreement. The Author also represents that, to the best of his/her/their knowledge, the Work does not contain any libelous material, is not in violation of any rights of privacy or any other rights of third persons, does not violate any existing common law or statutory copyrights, was not generated in part or in full by a Learned Language Model (so-called “AI”), and has not been published before in any form, whether paid or unpaid, in print, electronic, or other formats not specifically enumerated here.

3(b). The Author agrees to hold the Publisher harmless against any judgement finally sustained that the Work contains libel, plagiarism and/or invasion of privacy.

4(a). The Author retains ownership of the Work.

4(b). The Anthology will be published under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International License. Publisher agrees to list a proper copyright notice for the Work in the name of the Author or their approved pseudonym in the front matter of the Anthology.

4(c). The Publisher will make no changes to the Work’s text without the express written approval (in e-mail or print) of the Author. Prior to publication, the Publisher’s proposed version will be given to the Author for approval. The Publisher reserves the right to make minor copy-editing and formatting changes to ensure that the Work conforms to the Anthology’s standard forms and usages.

4(d) This agreement is non-exclusive, meaning Author may publish/share Work elsewhere.

By signing and submitting this form, Author acknowledges that he/she/they have read, understood, and agree to these terms.
